- A wonderful Minton tiled hallway in Derby, this Victorian geometric floor was in a nice overall condition with only a few loose tiles that needed refixing. It was pretty obvious that at some stage the floor had been treated with an oil, artifacts of the oil staining were visible in some places.

This original Minton tiled hallway in Derby suffered with quite a few loose tiles that needed to be re-fixed. Once the required repairs had be undertaken, the Minton tiles were cleaned with our biodegradeable cleaning products

This Victorian floor in Belper, Derbyshire was a real tough cookie, mainly because of the material used for the tiles. You be forgiven in thinking that they are all unglazed clay bodied tiles, but they are not. Only the red, black and brown colours are clay, the buff colours are made from sandstone which being so very porous has drawn 100+ years of dirt and staining too deep within the body to completely remove.

A wonderful Victorian geometric floor in central Derby. After carrying out a few necessary repairs, we deep cleaned the floor using some of our new penetrating cleaners to remove some aged in linseed oil stains. Then we revitalised the floor with a high gloss finish bringing more light into the hallway and enhancing the colours of the Victorian tiles.

A really nice variety of Minton Hollins tiles in this Edwardian tiled hallway in Chaddesden Derby, we particularly liked the colour scheme in the border. After a thorough deep clean and removing as much of the old oil sealers, we re-sealed the floor and applied a quality satin finish.

Even though this hallway is relatively small, it proved to be one of the toughest to clean so far. We were amazed at just how many contaminants where absorbed into the tiles; some of which proved totally resistant to modern chemicals.

A nice Edwardian tiled hallway floor in Belper Derbyshire. After removing the old polish that had aged and changed colour, we deep cleaned the floor and applied a quality satin finish to enhance the colours and protect the tiles from wear.

A stunning Victorian floor in Burton upon Trent which has seen some serious life in its 120+ years. There had been considerable movement through the floor, with damp being the primary cause of the shifts and heaving in certain areas. As a result many of the tile faces had exploded due to the pressure placed upon them. Plus a large number of tile replacements had to be made either because of damage or excess wear

This Victorian tiled hallway floor in Belper, Derbyshire had a coating of old sealer underneath which was trapped dirt that would forever reduce this floor natural good looks. After stripping away said sealer, we thoroughly cleaned the floor right into the edges and corners, and finished the floor off with a colour enhancing high gloss polish.

A stunning Victorian encaustic floor in Etwall Derbyshire. The floor was already clean and really only needed a few loose tiles to be re-fixed and a better quality sealer and polish applied. So with the freak heatwave yesterday the differences in photos are barely noticeable, in the flesh there is quite a difference.

A beautiful Victorian tiled hallway from 1862 and in stunning condition, save for a few stains from old linseed oil. The encaustic tiles are simply wonderful and represent crops grown on the original owners farms

A nice intricate Edwardian tiled floor consisting of 4" octagons with blue/white inserts. A lovely floor that had been found beneath carpet, as you can see there was still carpet adhesive around the perimeter of the floor.

This was a great floor to work on. Not only were we working for a superb couple who loved their beautiful hallway floor and the character it gave their home, but the floor also posed a few challenges along the way; nice to get the grey matter working.

This beautiful Victorian floor made from E. Smith of Coalville tiles is a stunning work with subtle coffee field tiles and colourful accents of red, blue and buffs. A large hallway area that is enhanced by design of the floor, tiles are designed around the 1 1/4 inch size format which adds to the overall intricacy of the floor.

This original floor has seen a lot of efflorescence activity over the years since it was first laid. Much of the efflorescence had been left untreated and as a result had become calcified into the tile body, pretty much rendering it part of the tile.

This floor was a little deceptive as it really didn't look at dirty. But under a coating of old polish, dirty was trapped and somewhat ingrained. Plus there was the usual paint spots that are left behind on most decorating works

This floor was always going to be a real challenge and unfortunately it would never be perfect once the contaminants where removed. Being a floor of soft clay tiles which are naturally porous they stain easily and are able absorb large quantities of pretty much anything left on them.

A nice hallway floor in Tatenhill Burton-upon-Trent. There has been a lot of movement in the substrate over the years which can be clearly seen by the number of cracks, some larger than others.
